First Local Currency in Australia

Sustainable Maleny have put into motion a few Transition activities already with the latest being a local currency to be introduced in June 2009.

The new local currency will be called the Baron Dollar and be accepted in selected shops in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. The Baroon dollar will be the first local currency to be used in Australia.

Welcome to the Brisbane Transition Hub

These pages will tell you what the Brisbane Transition Hub and Brisbane are Transition Town Initiatives have been up to.

We are targeting action on the twin issues of Climate Change and Peak Oil.  As such, we the Brisbane Community, aim to provide increased capacity in assisting Brisbane City Council to address these issues. We aim to work with the council. They too live in our communities.
